On 14 April, the EUVECA thematic meeting “The adaptive healthcare professional: learning and (collaborative) working in a continuously changing healthcare practice” took place at the University of Twente. With a strong turnout and positive energy, the event brought together regional initiatives, healthcare professionals and educational institutions around one central question: how can we prepare healthcare professionals for the future?
The meeting focused on connection, knowledge exchange and collaboration. As part of the European ERASMUS+ project EUVECA – which will conclude in June 2026 – insights developed over the past four years with partners from seven European countries were shared. These insights served as a starting point for discussions with regional partners on the future of healthcare in the Twente region.
Following an inspiring opening by moderator Marjolein den Ouden, who reflected on the European journey of the EUVECA project, seven regional initiatives presented their work in a series of short pitches. Participants then engaged in interactive workshops led by regional projects and organisations such as Zorginnovatieplein, ZorgTechNext, WGV (employee association) ZGT Innovation Challenge, DUTCH, TechMed Academy and EUVECA.
The strength of the afternoon lay in the exchange between participants. Bringing together perspectives from healthcare, education, technology and policy, attendees worked on real-life challenges, leading to valuable insights, new connections and concrete ideas for future collaboration.
The closing session confirmed the success of the event: participants unanimously expressed their interest in repeating the initiative. The organisation of the next edition has already been passed on to TZA (Technology and Care Academy), who will host the event next year.
The EUVECA project team looks back on a successful and inspiring afternoon, marking an important step in jointly shaping the adaptive healthcare professional of the future.
