The Education4Health platform, the flagship initiative of the EUVECA project, has officially been launched. This innovative platform aims to transform health education and training across Europe, making careers in the healthcare sector more attractive while enhancing the quality and accessibility of vocational education and training (VET). By fostering collaboration and innovation, the platform aims to meet the evolving needs of European healthcare systems.
Vision of the Education4Health Platform
The platform’s vision is multifaceted and has several key objectives. It aims to promote health careers by encouraging more people to consider health careers in European systems as attractive and rewarding. At the same time, it aims to improve the quality of education by increasing the focus on vocational training and lifelong learning within European health education and health care systems. By improving learning outcomes, the platform aims to improve the outcomes of students enrolled in VET programmes in the health sector.
The platform also facilitates access to learning activities, skills development opportunities, education and training for students and employees at all levels of education. It facilitates collaboration by enabling the sharing of resources between students, teachers, employees and stakeholders at regional and inter-regional levels. It also aims to develop broader skills and deeper understanding among healthcare professionals, while creating more opportunities for internships and on-the-job training.
The Education4Health platform also prioritises the promotion of mobility by enhancing regional and trans-regional learning experiences. It promotes transparency and cooperation in the development and innovation of VET systems and supports the integration of innovative practices into regional health VET systems. It addresses the future needs of the health workforce by improving skills forecasting. Finally, it focuses on reducing the social exclusion of professionals with lower levels of formal education and training.
Expert Feedback to Drive Sustainability
The development of the platform took a significant step forward on 11 December when the EUVECA European Expert Group met to provide feedback on the governance and sustainability of the platform. This group included representatives from notable organisations such as
- EUREGHA
- The European University Association
- The Digital Health & Care Innovation Centre
- The European Health Management Association
- Oslo Universitetssykehus
Discussions focused on key issues such as how to attract partners and users beyond the EUVECA partnership and how to establish a robust financial model for long-term sustainability. The experts provided invaluable insights that the EUVECA partners plan to incorporate into the ongoing development of the platform.
Looking Ahead
The Education4Health platform will continue to evolve until the end of the EUVECA project in May 2026. With continued collaboration, innovation and expert guidance, the platform is poised to become a cornerstone of health education and training in Europe.
Many thanks to all the experts who participated in the Expert Group Meeting and helped to shape the future of the Education4Health platform!
