EUVECA Partners gather in Trento to shape the project’s next steps

The EUVECA project is working to strengthen vocational education and lifelong learning in Europe’s healthcare sector. By fostering collaboration between higher education institutions and vocational training providers, EUVECA aims to equip healthcare professionals with modern, future-oriented skills and contribute to building a more integrated European Education Area.

In late September, the EUVECA consortium came together in the beautiful city of Trento, Italy, for a productive partner meeting hosted by Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK). The gathering brought fresh energy and collaboration as partners reviewed progress across work packages, refined strategies for the project’s digital platform, and laid the groundwork for EUVECA’s final phase.

Shaping the future of the Edu4Health platform

One of the central topics of discussion was the Edu4Health platform, the digital learning environment developed within EUVECA. Partners reflected on how the platform can best serve its diverse audiences such as teachers, students, and healthcare professionals, and agreed that its future success depends on ensuring it remains practical, inspiring, and easy to integrate into existing learning systems.

Each megatrend group will now take responsibility for maintaining and updating their course materials to ensure quality and consistency, while Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK), together with Henning and Henriette, will continue to coordinate improvements to the platform. A key next step will be revisiting the platform’s governance model, with an upcoming meeting to ensure alignment across the consortium.

To make the platform more dynamic, partners also committed to sharing additional online courses, not only from EUVECA but also from regional partner organisations, enriching the offer for educators and learners alike.

The Mobility section of the platform will soon feature inspiring personal stories, starting with Matic’s experience at the University of Twente. This new content will highlight the opportunities and impact of interregional exchange within the EUVECA network.

Building sustainability and looking ahead

Another highlight of the meeting was the discussion around Work Package 6: Sustainability and the Business Model Canvas, led by Natalia Allegretti and Federica Porcu (both from ECHAlliance). Partners shared valuable input to refine the project’s long-term sustainability strategy, with particular attention to ensuring the financial and technical continuation of the platform after the project ends.

The consortium also explored future collaborations, such as with the “Care About IT” initiative, as potential partners for enriching EUVECA’s educational offer and testing the updated governance model.

Partners agreed to finalise their Sustainability Template Plans by the end of October and continue sharing success stories that illustrate EUVECA’s impact on health education and regional collaboration.

Looking toward the final conference

As the project approaches its conclusion, partners also discussed plans for the final EUVECA conference, now scheduled for March 23–25, 2026. The event will serve a dual purpose: to showcase the achievements of EUVECA and the Edu4Health platform, and to spark high-level discussions on the future of healthcare education in Europe. The European Health Management Association (EHMA) will take the lead in developing the conference concept note.

A spirit of collaboration and shared purpose

The Trento meeting reflected EUVECA’s collaborative and forward-looking spirit. From refining governance models to strengthening sustainability, every discussion demonstrated the partners shared commitment to making vocational education in healthcare more modern, interconnected, and future ready.

As the project enters its final stretch, EUVECA continues to build bridges between education and health ecosystems across Europe — ensuring that innovation in learning leads to lasting improvements in healthcare practice.
